Journey to the Past:
the Life and Tragedy of the Romanov Family
For my final MFA project, I designed costumes based on a stage play about the Last Imperial Family of Russia, the Romanov's. These three costumes I selected to make were specifically chosen to portray the life and tragedy of the Romanov family.

The first costume is based on the gown and kokoshnik worn by the Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna at the Winter Palace costume ball in 1903, sister to the Empress.

This steel-blue velvet Edwardian-style tea gown and jacket set is a design created for the character the Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna, sister to Tsar Nicholas II.

The final costume make for this project was for the character the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna, the youngest daughter to Tsar Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra. This costume is set during the months when the Imperial Family was exiled and imprisoned in Ekaterinburg, Siberia in 1918.
